Ear To Ear Smiles At Fenway South

Trying to figure out gifts for my love so far has been simple. Jerry is a fan of sports, baseball being number one on the list. For Christmas I had decided spring training would be the perfect gift. Of course when I came up with the idea, I was thinking we would drive from Orange County California to Arizona, when my friend Rustico made an obvious statement that changed my mind. Why Arizona when Jerry is a Boston Red Sox fan?  That settled it, we were Florida Citrus League bound.

As soon as we arrived at the Fenway South stadium we were both ear or ear smiles. The new stadium is beautiful, and we knew that since the Red Sox vs. Yankees game was on ESPN, there would be some great players on the field. I have to admit that I am not a sports fan that follows teams and games, but I do love to show up for the hot dogs and beer. I have always enjoyed attending college football games. To me, the feel of spring training baseball is similar to college football. The commradere is awesome. We were surrounded by Yankees fans, as well as Red Sox fans, but everyone was thrilled to be there to experience the love of the game.

I was going to try to relay the experience of our first baseball spring training game, but my husband Jerry’s Facebook post after the game says it best (the “amazing” part is fun to read again and again too). “My wife is so amazing to me and has no clue of the joy and happiness she has brought to my life over the last 3 years. I don’t think she truly understood the depth of a dream that has stood in my heart and soul for close to 40 years. When she bought the simple gift of two tickets to a baseball game, a spring training game at that, she allowed me to heal a part of my life that I never thought I could. The smell of the grass, the crack of the bat, a crowd of strangers linked by the common bond of a simple game we played as kids. Most importantly, the love of a truly amazing woman who took time to not only “listen” to me and my continuous ramblings, but to fully engage herself in my dream. Kris has given me far more in this short time than I could ever give to her. I have to admit that this is an amazing time, with amazing game, now I get to remember amazing people.”

Love it!! So happy you were able to experience Spring Training and what an awesome gift for Jerry! Maybe we will see you in AZ next year? Tell Jerry that Jax is playing for the Red Sox this year in Little League. 🙂 xo

      Lucy,
Now that I started it, I doubt I’ll get out of spring training next year, not that I really want to anyway. We would love to meet up with you all in AZ next year. The best part about AZ is all the great spa hotels! What we save on flights, I’ll spend on spa time. xxoo
