This was not my typical Atomic Hostess Crafty Challenge. This week we took care of one of the items on my Mom’s honey do list. We flew to Seattle, landed, and within the hour we were at work pulling up the living room carpet to expose the original hardwood floors. After all the years of being covered, stapled, spilled on, and lots of pets, the floors are in pretty good condition. We did the basics of pulling it up, filling staple holes with wood putty, and then painting & replacing moldings; unfortunately, we didn’t have all the right tools to easily cut the moldings. Jerry got it done though!! We were very thankful that along the way no one used adhesive when putting down carpet, I read some horror stories! The floors will probably need a little buffing later, but overall look pretty good.
Jerry moves quick when he’s on a project….I try to keep up! You can’t see the Atomic Hostess logo on the front of JC’s shirt, but he is wearing his “crew” shirt I had made for him as a joke when we did craft & vintage shows last year.
That bird’s not meant for y’all!
Originally we hadn’t planned on pulling up the laminate floor in the dining room, but once we saw it next to the hardwood floors, we all knew it needed to go.
My Mom is a frequent shopper at the cutest antique and floral shop in Kent, WA – Whimsical Whites, owned by sister team Kathleen & Kris. We’ve known Kathleen since I was in elementary school…she used to “do” our hair. I remember specifically one time getting a perm by Kathy before going to the Billy Squire concert with my friends cir 1986. The hair was good and big, but I’d say they found their genre with the gorgeous antiques they refinish!
Sadly, there is never enough time to see everyone when I go home….NEXT TIME!
After my iPad notes lost my list of craft projects, I think I was able to remember and recreate most of it…..on PAPER. No, I don’t back up with iCloud….I don’t really trust it with all the scandals we’ve heard about recently…not that I have iPad secrets (smirk). Anyway, Monday I’ll be back on schedule with my AH Crafty Challenge; check in to see what next week’s project will be.
