A couple weeks ago we were finally able to make a trip up to see my sweet Mama in the Seattle area, or as I call it, “The Land of Lupine & Giant Evergreens”. I was hoping for some relief from the Southern California heat wave; I had my fingers crossed for rainy, overcast weather, but it couldn’t have been any more beautiful.
The list of things we accomplished while we were in Seattle was big, and small all at the same time. We were able to cross a big project off my Mom’s honey do list (pulling up carpet to reveal original hardwood floors), and visit my High School BFF, and her family. Marilyn has been an avid gardener, well, since forever. We were those girls that would take a day off work just to go to the Northwest Flower and Garden Show (February), which is truly amazing. Go if you ever have the chance. Even after I moved to California, I flew home a few times specifically for the garden show. I may just have to dig out some of our old pictures of the show…we had our favorite nurseries / vendors, and they never seemed to disappoint. Anyway, BFF’s family has been in this house for a somewhat short time; at the beginning of the summer they had some landscaping done on their sloping lake garden. Take a peek below….it turned out gorgeous!
I can’t believe how quick the months are flying by this year. When we’re visiting, I am never able to fit everything in, or see everyone I want to see. We were just there, but we need to plan another trip up very soon; I have a lot of outstanding rain checks to see long time friends I miss gobs.
It always seems like we should be able to squeeze more in, it seems like we should get to see more people, it seems like we should get to relax & veg more. We don’t, but I wouldn’t trade my visits in for anything.
