A couple days ago I was having a great time spray painting the hanging lamp, patio furniture, even the grass, I was going to town. I kept imagining our new neighbors peering out their window, wondering what kind of nut job just moved to town; they probably think I have a “huffing” issue with all the spray painting going on! Oh yes, while I was outside working on my patio makeover, and home alone, I proceeded to lock myself out of the house. Jerry was en route flying home from the east coast. Luckily one of the patio sliders was open, but the screen door was locked. I was able to yank the screen off the tracks to get back in. No worries, Jerry fixed it.
So, while planning this patio makeover, I didn’t take into consideration that we don’t own a ladder. If you saw the intro to this AH Crafty Challenge you’d see how high up the lights have to go. A couple month ago Jerry even pointed a ladder out at an estate sale, I said “nah, what do we need that for?”. Poop!
- I have most of the pieces together: the lamp painted, the chairs painted, outdoor fabric (striped coral, turquoise, white & tan – super cute) for the chair cushions. I would like to find an outdoor sisal rug, but I’ll wait on that until next summer.
The final reveal (part 2) will be soon, before the weekends over….I swear it.

Our new neighbors think I have a spray paint addiction.

This sad, rusty lamp is the inspiration for the patio makeover. It desperately needed some lovin’.

All painted up, and no where to hang….for now.
Originally I saw these outdoor lights in a Ballard Design catalog, and found them on Amazon for half the price. Score!

The patio chairs before & after.
This time around I spray painted the chairs, but next time I think I’ll use an outdoor regular ol’ can of paint & brush. I didn’t tape the chairs off, just used a piece of cardboard to block the fabric meshy part; this worked out well, but I think more spray paint blew away, and covered me more than the patio chairs.
Kris…tack(STAPLE GUN) up an old shower curtain when you spray paint…it blocks the wind and contains the mess…I also use old cheap plastic tablecloths under my painting projects to keep from painting the ground..floor…grass…lol… you get the idea! I very much miss my old farm house basement… i spray painted in it year round. Never a breeze and the temp was always perfect!!

I loved the colour you put onto the lamps! Just the shade I would have sprayed it. Looking forward to the final reveal.
