My AH Crafty Challenge this week was to re-paint our TV console to match up with our “new” industrial vintage coffee table, etc. Originally I had painted the console black, then painted it what I thought was a turquoise color, which turned out to be more of an ice blue. I wasn’t loving it….it was just MEH, at best. I let it marinate over night to make sure. Sooooo, I stripped the top (insert naughty pun here), and I’m excited about how it turned out!
paint & more paint
cheapy paint brushes
Citristrip Stripper – highly recommend this stuff!
tape & garbage bag to block off bits
satin polyurethane (for wood top)
I painted on a thick coat of Citristrip onto the top of the console, and let it marinate for about 1-2 hours. The paint was extremely easy to scrape off! Highly recommend this stuff.
I thought I might have to apply stain after removing the paint, but the walnut finish was beautiful. I put on a coat of satin polyurethane, and that was it.
Painted, re-painted, stripped, and painted again….it’s finally done. It goes great with the industrial kick we’re on.
