Dining Room Table Intro – AH Crafty Challenge

I took last week off from blogging, and it was nice, and I actually missed it. A couple times I thought about throwing up a quick post, but resisted. Ha – I shouldn’t be using the term “throwing up” since the flu has been traveling through our house. While I took the week off from blogging, Jerry’s still been busy on his building streak. He built us a dining room table. I don’t know about you, but I’m impressed. It was his first attempt at building a dining room table. WOW!

We couldn’t find any good chunky legs we like, so the current table legs are temporary. My Crafty Challenge this week is the fun and much easier part of this project; once again, I get to finish it up. The table itself, I’m going to give a basic white paint job.

We want mixed up chairs for our dining room table. So far we scored one good chair at the Goodwill for $5. I love a great bargain. It’s a nice solid wood chair, it does need some cleaning up and paint. The mixed up chairs I will paint all the same color; I’m thinking Jadite Green, or a Turquoise / Aqua Blue color. What do you think?

I cannot wait to break out the vintage linens, and china, and glassware to set the table. Yippee!

This is the first table Jerry's built - I'm impressed!

So far, we've found one chair for the dining room table. This one we got at the Goodwill for $5. It's a nice sold wood chair. Not sure what color we'll paint it yet.

The week I’ll do the basic steps for painting furniture:

  • Sand really good
  • Primer
  • Paint a couple coats
  • Maybe age / distress….not sure if I want to do this or not
  • Finish it up with a Top Coat – I have to do some more reading, but I believe Polycrylic is a good top coat for dining room tables; it’s heat resistant. More research needed.

Have a great week, and check back in Friday to see how our dining room table turns out!
