Highboy Dresser: Morgan Before & After

This highboy dresser has been waiting on our back porch for way too long. I hate to say it, but it’s been patiently waiting for at least 2 months. Yikes! Of course it was covered with a blanket, under the patio roof – eve – pergola thingy.

Right after bringing this one home, I had used Citrustrip to strip down the stain. I hadn’t planned on painting it, I really liked the style and the grain of the wood, but once I finally got back to it last weekend, we actually decided to keep the dresser, and the plan was to paint it up to match the dresser in our bedroom now.

I spend Saturday afternoon sanding, priming, and painting and in the middle of all that, with too much time to think, I made a decision. The furniture pieces I “rehabilitate” I’m going to name; ha, that one got the odd twist of the head and Scooby Doo “Rut Roooh” from both Jerry & Shay.

Yes, this dresser shall be called Morgan!

Hindsight I probably should have just sanded this dresser. Don't forget your fancy gloves for stripping furniture.

I already have a dresser in the queue, in Morgan’s old spot, on the back patio, and under that same blanket. This new dresser is more of a chest of drawers type of dresser that Shay will be taking when she moves into her new apartment. I already named the dresser “Lindy”. Lindy will be painted dark navy with gold or copper hardware. She’ll be gorgeous!
