Projects are 99% done and NOW they want to be difficult?

Last night I had my back pocket music blaring; Spotify silly, not my actual a$$. I was so excited to get these two pieces done and off to The Landmark Antique shop today. Well, looks like I f*** this one up. I’m giggling about it today, but yesterday, as my dear Aunt Dona would say “I was mad in the face”!

I found this side table and made a challenge out of it. The ladies at the store, and Jerry, laughed at me when I insisted on buying it. They made me promise to bring before and after pictures for them. I was determined to take this funky fabulous side table / night stand from the 70’s and bring it into the 2015’s (ugh….I’ve been alive during that entire timeline, maybe I need to be brought into the 2015’s!).

This chunky 70’s Mediterranean piece was very easy for us to name! Two Buck Chuck. And if any of you have ever bought this incredibly inexpensive wine from Trader Joe’s you know exactly what I mean. It’s cheap, does the job, but oh my, the next day headache is a killer!

I knew right off that hardware needed to go! Jerry showed me the toothpick & putty trick for filling the holes. I THOUGHT I was careful to fill the correct holes. I should have let my finance / numbers husband give me a little help; yes, I’m very stubborn.

The toothpick trick – just cut multiple toothpicks to size, place in the old hardware hold you want closed up. Then stuff the putty in. Of course you know the rest, sand, refill as needed, and sand again.

Who’s the knob now? It’s okay to laugh today, but I was so very bummed when I discovered this hot mess below!

AND we had crystal knobs on the doors too, so it looked doubly awful! On an up note, look how fabulous that crystal knob looks on the drawer!!

This one, we call Michael Caine, he hasn’t been such a hassle, but I had no idea how hard it actually is to find teeny tiny door pulls.

I did find some small handles for the doors (one of the originals was missing). I bought these, but won’t use….they just aren’t right!

Moral of my story? I won’t be stubborn (haha, okay I’ll work on this one) and I’ll have Jerry double check when I start rearranging the hardware holes!

I’m determined that both pieces will be in my new space at Landmark Antiques this afternoon!
