About a month ago I spotted what I thought was a luggage rack. I snapped it up to put in my Mom’s room – guest bedroom. I finally realized I’ve never had a luggage rack that tall at a hotel, duh. Thrift stores are my place to zone out, and obviously my brain was turned off. It turned out to be the bottom portion of a Butlers Tray. Even better!
Jerry made a tray for the top and I started painting away. At first I was going to paint the top gold, which was good in theory, but I just couldn’t get it to look good. Then I thought about using one of those new temporary wallpapers, but wait, won’t that get ruined quickly if the piece is used as a bar cart? Yes, everything lately looks like a bar cart to me. Ummm, too much stress maybe? Okay, so I went back and painted the top black again.
Sometimes the smallest projects take the most time!
In this picture the gold top doesn’t look too bad, but it didn’t have a nice smooth finish to it.
It looks great with the gold ice bucket, and glassware!
The tips of the stand part had brass tips so I used some of the gold paint to accent the bamboo-ish part of the legs.
Okay a few of my favorite things from my last drop off at Landmark Antiques.
