I wasn’t going for a beachy look when I started this nightstand / small dresser, but I have to say I nailed it….accidentally. I did a larger version of this piece for my great niece over the Thanksgiving holiday (click here to see it). The size of this piece reminds me of I Love Lucy – the over-sized nightstand squeezed between their twin beds.

PBN_Fish Floats always help achieve the beachy look
The glass fishing floats always remind me of my Grandparents cabin in Grayland, Washington. Sadly the cabin has since been washed away because of the tide changes (the jetty built in Westport). Every once in awhile we would find glass floats washed up on the beach. My Grandma had tacky beach decor down to an art. The eves of the cabin were scattered with glass floats, Styrofoam floats, and fishing net. My Auntie May, she lived next door, her obsession was with owls. Her house was CoVeRed, I mean every bit of space, covered with owl everything. I need to find some pictures.
My “beach” memories are much different than the glamorous Cape Cod adventures you see on television. I wouldn’t trade those good memories for anything; those sometimes scary owls staring me down while I gasped for air because of all the wafting cigarette smoke, and a good game of Yatzee with the old gals.
Happy Weekend! xxoo Kris

Thank you Terry! This is one of those oops paints from Home Depot. I’m going to have to go back to have them mix some up for me. You have a great weekend too! Kris
