Fridays have been turning into our regular estate sale shopping day. There are so many reasons to love shopping at estate sales. The main reason why I enjoy them…yes, obviously I need inventory for my Etsy Shop; it’s because I purchase things that I wouldn’t normally think to buy if I were at a retail store. It’s not (always) because it’s something I don’t need. It’s because when I shop retail I do it with a specific list in mind and I am rushing to get the heck out of there. I don’t lollygag at retail stores like I do at estate sales. I can look through a box of old buttons, postcards, or linens waaay longer than my attention span allows under normal circumstances.
VINTAGE LINENS & HANDKERCHIEFS
KITCHEN & BARWARE TOOLS
I tried to figure this one out on my own, what IS that yellow handled vintage kitchen tool with the VeRy sharp spikes under the cork? I broke down and Googled it. I was thinking is was some sort of meat fork or tenderizer. Turns out it’s an ice chipper for your cocktails. Why-oh-Why have I lived so long without you? Okay, this one actually is on the list of don’t needs, but look at that bright sunny handle!
SEWING & CRAFTING
When we got to the estate sale last Friday there were rows of tables lined up outside filled to the brim with every kind of sewing and upholstery gadget you could ever (not) need. Jerry was through the entire estate sale before I moved away from those glorious tables. I stood there looking so long that I got a sun burn!
