For the last month I have been staying up later and later. The time between 9pm and 2 am has been flying by like minutes instead of hours. Last week Jerry was up and going. Me, not so much. He doesn’t usally look to see what’s going on in the estate sale world, he’s more of a sports scores kinda guy. He woke me up at “blank” o’clock (I’m too embarrased to say the time!), gave me the sale highlights, after seeing a couple pictures I was up, threw on my jeans & t-shirt, grabbed a sweatshirt and my pearls to put on in the car.
Typically when we go to an estate sale I wonder, I scour, and I fill my tote. This sale I was awe struck. I literally have never been so overwhelmed by an estate sale before. My eyes scanned without the ability to focus, feet cemented to the ground, and I was near faint (maybe the faint is a slight over exaggeration). Have you ever been to an estate sale, yard sale, or garage sale like this? It will be a very long time before any estate sale comes close to this one.
I’m a little shocked I even thought to take the couple horrible pictures at the sale that I did. The house, backyard and garage were filled beyond capacity with so much gorgeousness. Gobs of chandeliers, depression glass, pottery, stemware, flatware, china, china, and MORE china. Jerry exceeded my dash – grab – pile ability and as the pile grew our new found friend Ray from A Better Solution Estate Sales (thanks Ray!) guarded our finds from other shoppers.
I send out my deepest grattitude to the dear woman selling her estate. She is a retired antique dealer with impecable taste. Sometimes an estate sale can be a little sad; you can feel it in the house, you can see it in how they lived. I believe this woman lived this life right!
With all my other collections, and the addition of the items found at this sale, I will be launching my event party rentals sooner than expected. My focus will be on those dinner parties, cocktail parties, or even wedding receptions for 5 to 60 people. After the B.S. I went through trying to plan a small wedding for 45 when Jerry and I married, I swore never to out price those small parties….no event too small! We ended up eloping in Savannah Georgia; it couldn’t have been any more perfect.
First, when you put tape on your cell phone screen because you dropped it…it shows up when you take your own dang picture. Second, THE best estate sale I have been to to day.
This is the look of excitement. That smile and feeling when you score amazing vintage goodeies. Side note….when you put tape on your cell phone screen to keep the glass from shattering more…it shows when you take your own dang picture.
In case I haven’t mentioned it enough…THE best estate sale I have been to to date. I believe this is also the first time I’ve gone to the same estate sale two days in a row. There were too many lovely things we left behind. For tips on how to find vintage decor and where to find it, you can check out my post 5+ tips for where & how to find vintage decor in the wild.
Be sure to see the chandelier I picked up at the BEST estate sale ever: day 2.
